PRESS RELEASE ON THE CASE OF OGECHI GIFT OKECHUKWU, A PATIENT THAT WAS AT THE FMC YENAGOA

March 18, 2025Memo

1. That Ogechi Gift Okechukwu was seen and attended to sometime in November 2024
and on 22nd-23rd February 2025 at the FMC Yenagoa.
2. Within these periods, no surgeries were carried out on the patient at FMC Yenagoa as
alleged even though she had had surgeries from elsewhere previously.
3. That ogechi was having financial transactions with one Susan Joseph Uwaoma with
regard to payment of bills at FMC Yenagoa is not known to the Hospital.
4. Dr. Kenseimo Braye Lambert whom Ogechi claimed to be intervening for her only
served as an House Officer with the FMC Yenagoa between November 2023 to
November 2024 and has nothing to do with the hospital thereafter.
5. Dr. Kenseimo Braye Lambert official contact with Ogechi Gift Okechukwu was in
November 2024 as she was doing call duties then.
6. FMC Yenagoa does not approve collection/payment of monies to any staff and so Dr.
Kenseimo Braye Lambert’s meetings and interactions with Ogechi Giff Okechukwu,
Susan Joseph Uwaoma and any other with regards to raising of funds does not in any
way represent the FMC Yenagoa, moreso, as Dr. Kenseimo Braye Lambert ceased to
be a staff of the Centre at the end of her one year internship in November 2024.
7. The FMC Yenagoa is a public health institution/facility where anybody who chooses to
come could come to be attended to but that does not warrant any one to make
frivolous claims and spur unwarranted attacks on the hospital to blackmail, make
unsubstantiated claims to dissuade well-meaning members of the public from using
the facility as with the case of Susan Joseph Uwoama as actions like this may attract
legal redress.
8. It is even more worrisome that, Susan Joseph Uwaoma and her representative did
not turn up to give details even when invited by the hospital investigative panel. This
is a curious reason why the Management will call on the Police to take note as this
incident could be one in a syndicate yet to be unraveled.
9. Management sees this as a distraction particularly when due diligence was not taken
while soliciting for mass funding and paying monies for bills into an individual’s
account without the hospital’s knowledge.
10. FMC Yenagoa, like every other government institution, has her own share of
operational challenges which are not common to her. It is expected that the general
public work to together with the Management of the Centre as it is established to
serve the interest of all.
11. Management yet will like to use this medium to appeal to well-meaning members of
the public to still patronize the Centre and also carry whatever humanitarian
assistance they wish to give to patients or even the hospital and not be discouraged
by this issue.
12. Management wishes to thank the general public, particularly the media for being
patient, focused and understanding in the course of this matter.

PRESS RELEASE ON THE CASE OF OGECHI GIFT OKECHUKWUDownload

NATIONAL ANTHEM

Nigeria, we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians all, and proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.

Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honour’d,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.

O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.
